Be taught by a real historian

Scientific Archaeology PhD Candidate, with a First Class BA (Hons) and MA in Classics and Ancient History. I am a published historian with top peer-reviewed journals and books.
I teach at the University of Liverpool and University of Manchester, and work with some of the world's most prestigious institutions, such as the British Museum and University of Oxford. My research involves me getting hands-on with priceless treasures from the ancient past, such as Egyptian gold, Roman gemstones, and even the oldest known structure in the world!
My work has been featured in national museum exhibitions, such as National Museum Liverpool's Return of the Gods exhibition.

SUCCEED IN YOUR STUDIES
Pre-GCSE
I seek to inspire young minds to be curious about the past and ideas which remain relevant to this day.  Mythic tales of Heracles or the clashing of great empires helps to bring the history to life, whilst learning about how Romans conceptualised 'the good life' helps pupils reflect on the present day and the development of knowledge and ideas. It is never too early to explore the past and ignite a passion for reading and writing about them.
GCSE
Analysing sources, learning dates and events, and critically engaging with broad ideas presents a challenge to students, especially when they are being examined. I guide students through the process of learning about the past and its ideas, not through a textbook, but by engaging with the material in a deep and meaningful manner. Students are provided with the toolkit they need to succeed their goals, whilst garnering an appreciation of the skills they acquire along the way.
A-Level
The jump from GCSE to A-Level comes to a shock for many students. History, Classics, and Philosophy require a comprehensive knowledge of the periods and times being studied, as well as the ability to incorporate scholarship from the leading voices in the field. I support students with acquiring the more demanding skillset needed to succeed at A-Levels and give them an insight into what is required to continue their studies at Higher Education, if desired.
Undergraduate & Postgraduate
Academic essays are difficult and take a different form to those which are learnt at GCSE or A-Level. Lecturers expect students to write with authority, flare, and consistency, all of which are difficult to master. I guide students on how to hold their work up to the most rigorous standards, aiming to write work which is First Class and noteworthy. Practical skills, such as research, planning, structuring, source evaluation, and citations are covered in meticulous detail.
Exceed the syllabus

All exam boards are covered, including GCSE, A-Level and common areas of study for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. I believe in fostering a love of History, Classics and Philosophy by exploring a wide range of topics and time periods, which will underpin and bolster an understanding of what is learnt in schools.
Focus on developing positive habits

I believe that progress is achieved through practicing good habits. There is no replacement for reading and writing, both of which require hard work and dedication to perfect. I teach students how efficient approaches to time management gain excellent results and inspire them to develop lifelong positive habits for personal success.
